Set of Four RE-usable Shopping Totes
(scroll down to the bottom to see the group of four)

Da dat DAH-- introducing for the very first ever...... The REuseable shopping tote! And not just one either. Nope. A set of four.

Sure, they used to be oversized pillowslips, but that's just so yesterday.

(I just love those green and orange beds. Always makes me think of that fearless little girl in The Three Bears.)

Two of the bags have the beds on top and the dots beneath. The difference between the two similar ones is that one of them buttons closed. I simply employed the original buttons and buttonholes. You could put your outrageously valuable groceries in that one.

Hey- with RE-usable shopping totes; you could be more like me and my uber green husband. Yup. We've got a whole bunch of reusable bags for grocery shopping. They all look fantastic in the back of the van while we're in Superstore unloading $15.8 million dollars in groceries into plastic bags because we never remember to bring those &%^$#@ recyclable ones in with us.
Here's a handy dandy breakdown of what's on the auction block today:
Bag #1
Bag #2

Bag #3

Bag #3
Bag #4

Bids begin at $30- Cdn. Now, what makes these bags different from the tote bag that you have seen here is that they are: unlined, unpocketed, but not unlovable. The bottoms of the bags are reinforced to hold that $25 block of cheese and not lose it in the parking lot on the way to your corvette.

The auction will close tonight, September 29, 2009 at 9:30 pm, cst.

(thank you, VC for those fun-filled fabrics. I've had my eye on them for this very reason since you brought them to me many moons ago...)

REally
What's with the capital "RE" in recent bag posts? Well, its a silly play on words to REmind everyone of the three RE's. (reduce, reuse, recycle) This project reduces landfill waste by reusing discard fabric and recycling used clothing.
Those letters were cut out of a beautifully embroidered hippy top, and then appliqued onto a green chennille bedspread. (not the WHOLE bedspread, silly. just a little PIECE of it.)

gREen
ahhh... I do love this bag.
I'm quite sure that fabric came from a little fairy named Kim, who sifts through cast-aways and brings me the finest in unwanted fabrics.
But that map fabric that forms the pockets is from my sister-in-law who lives in Rome. It seems fitting that she give me a skirt covered in map pictures. My brother and her, along with my three loverly nieces; have lived on several locations on those maps.
The colours are indicative of the kind of weather we've been having around here. It's technically autumn, but we've been flooded in the most glorious summer sun and heat.
Great details and colour depth. Why are vintage pieces so appealing? They must be made in an entirely different way. And perhaps the dyes are different too?
The backyard view.
Nothing says "Darfur bag" like a few buttons to finish it off.
This is a medium sized bag- 10" x 11". Two pockets under the flap; two pockets inside.
Bids start at $30- Cdn and this auction will close this evening at 9:30 pm cst.
It's Thursday, everyone. Celebrate by standing the "wrong" way in the elevator at work; will ya?

Autumn Flowers
We're just fresh into Autumn- only we've been having that summer that passed us by in July and August. It's been a glorious reprieve from a year of spring and winter.
This is my small bag size- 7" x 9". It's the ideal size for your wallet and a few small sundries. It is what has gotten me through this past summer, and I found that I've really loved this size.
(Don't you love those bicycles?! sooo sweet)
The flap piece with the zig zags and brown flowers is from a long, narrow remnant that was gifted to me. I really love it.

The regular tricks apply to "Autumn flowers"- an under flap pocket, and two interior pockets, an adjustable shoulder strap, and the use of lots of scrappy bits. (employed here are: chennille bedspread, potholder, Brian's shirt, and assorted donated remnants.

flower power
It's been said before that I can't get enough of that '70's flower power.
How could that not make you happy?
Especially when you add some texture with buttons. Yum, yum.
You can thank Alice for the pockets. She was the gentle nag who helped me to see the necessity of compartments to place one's valuables in. I suppose not everyone just chucks their stuff in as I do.
So, on the inside, you'll get some more.
(that's a shirt right there- from a cutie named Esther.)
The view from the back.
