No, I've Not Fallen Through The Deck to My Untimely Death

I know, I know.
If you've humoured me by slipping over to Blunderview, you know the dramas in which I've been entangled.

But what about the bags??

That too.
I haven't lost the sewing machines, nor the inspiration, nor the passion.
I just can't do it all.

( ;) who knew?)

So, don't rush off to online electronics or gucci bags, ok?
see you soon.

And all these super-helpful links, to boot!!
Sometimes these super interesting new customers speak of things that make me wonder-- What did I say in that post?! Did I update people on something without realizing it? Did I say something really fascinating without being fully aware of what I was saying? And was is it that you are greatly enjoying? Oh. Maybe it has something to do with online electronics?!

Hello Friends...

It seems that life has been piling up behind me lately.
In four sleeps, I send my daughter up up and away into the big grey birdie in the sky. To Europe. Over the next four days, I'd like to be less distracted. More present.

I won't be far away, but if things are kind of quiet around here, you'll know where I am. I might even be over here, finding some happy.

Peace out.

*a bit of business- For those of you following along on the branch saga, the three additional branch bags have now been posted and sold. There are no longer any trump options floating around out there, so we are back to our regular scheduled programming...

Boughing to Pressure

A branch (UK: /ˈbrɑːntʃ/ or UK: /ˈbræntʃ/, US: /ˈbræntʃ/) or tree branch (sometimes referred to in botany as a ramus) is a woody structural member connected to but not part of the central trunk of a tree.
(Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Otherwise known as "another kick at the can"... Or branch. (can you kick at a branch?)

The bough is again made of leather, turned upside down for that fuzzy effect. Three special buttons from my collection form the buds on the branch.

Two pockets beneath the flap. Just right for a phone and keys.

(I really love this fabric. It came in a lot of hand-me-down stuff from someone some time ago. Gorgeous. I always wonder what the original intent was for that piece. Curtains? Clothes? Shame it never got done, but good for me and the Darfur bags in any case).

This is inside out. upholstery samples make up sturdy pockets on each side.

I'll be back with words- too much going on right now...
peace out.

Boughing measures 12.5" both ways.
Bids begin at $25- Cdn, please. This auction will close tonight, March 22, 2010 at 9:30 pm, cst.

Bare Bones

(I appear to be on empty. After "fighting" with my daughter's tour group, arranging euros and bank accounts and debit cards, shopping and shopping for this and that,....., coping with my mama heart....
hunting for paperwork since my '08 taxes have just been reassessed and the government wants a bunch of my money....
working and vacuuming and vacuuming (when you have roughly twenty-five bodies in and out of your house every day in spring.... that's a lot of dust and dead grass....)...
And sewing.
I'm tired.
I know I'm winge-ing.
Hopefully after a pot of coffee, I'll find my moxie and be back with some pep.
For now- Some beautiful pictures.
Later, babes.

11" wide, 12.5" deep.
Bids begin at $25- Cdn.
Auction ends today, March 18, 2010 at 9:30 pm, cst.

Everything's Coming Up Roses

(Mariatu Janice-- Floey says; "Hello".)

If you've been following the bags4Darfur Drama... You'll know about our simultaneous branch-breaking neck and neck ties. (neckties? Great idea!)

You'll likely have heard audible gasping from your very own corner of the worldwide web, as the women of the forest rallied to bring home the branch.

Well, I'm here to suggest that all good things come to she who waits.

Even glass buttons that have been tightly clutched by yours truly until they nearly crumbled.
My greed has seen its own demise, and these perfectly crafted baubles are now yours to enjoy. I've received so much pleasure from them myself. I hope you feel as I do.

*sigh*
Exquisate.

I think I have failed to mention that the branches on these bags are cut from leather samples. As in, I may never find my ideal chocolate brown leather couch at a yard sale for a hundred bucks, but I did receive leather sample swatches from the furniture store. Instead of piecing them together and making my own couch, thankyouverymuch, I cut them into branch shapes and then laid them fuzzy side up. (Is that what suede is? Upside down leather?) The effect is decidedly woodsy in a classy kinda way.

Today's branch is laid upon a bed of roses, inspired by D Dae.
Amazing what a gal can find in a million or two stacks of fabric. I never knew I had so many roses.

(see?)

Yep, a bit of early morning sewing, and she's ready to hit the runway.

Hard to know what Brian is wearing to work these days. Another one of his shirts went into the top secret pocket club. The bottom hem forms two small pockets above it.
On the other side, three more pockets.

Nice neutral tones, to help you blend in with nature :)

" Coming Up Roses" measures 12.5" wide and 13" deep.

Please start your bids at $25.00 Canadian. DDae and Corrine, if you decide that you gotta have this one, then please go ahead and use your $76.00 buy-it-now option. Either way, it's all good with me. Everyone else- please don't be polite. Love it? Please bid. Otherwise I have nothing to look forward to when I check my inbox at lunch time.
Thanks everyone, for positive comments and a happy buzz over here at the bag depot.
Auction concludes tonight, March 17 (my sister's birthday!! Happy Birthday Kathy! You're the bestest!!!) at 9:30 pm, cst.
