Day 2: Out of Africa

This bag could be called nothing less. For many years those elephants served as a throw pillow on my sister Laura's couch. But they did originally come from Ethiopia, where another sister was travelling at the time. All the detailing on and around the elephants is handsewn. In some "pay it forward" sort of way; isn't it fitting that the African woman who likely laboured over this piece of beauty should have her country benefit from its resale? Two inside pockets, and an elephanty pocket under the flap.
Don't forget a funky cell phone/ key/ pepper spray pocket on the side.
Literally.

The side panel fabric is a warm shade of brown, with safari animals running through it. I've hoarded that piece since my kids were little and I was busy trying to market kids clothes. I always envisioned that piece as a great spring and fall jacket, but now I'm glad I never got around to it. It belongs here.Again, bids begin at $25.00.
Bids close at 6:00 pm tonight. (that's central standard time.)
Increments can go up by whole dollar amounts.
Leave a comment with your offer, or if you are having trouble with blogger, send me an e-mail and I'll transfer the information for you. My laptop went belly-up yesterday, so it will be more challenging for me to check in today, but will check after lunch, and of course, at the end of the day.
Happy Safari...

Joyce, someone asked yesterday what time zone you were in. It matters if someone from far away from us is bidding. Your 6:15 (if I remembered right) might be their 4:15 if they are two zones away...

I hate to say it and reveal what you don't want revealed, but if you say a time for the end of bidding here, it is important.

I might bid later, though I'm not so sure about the outside of the bag as I was about yesterday's!

Ah, heck. I say okay... 30$ to get things started.

$50. Now that John Wilkes Booth has his bag I have a chance, though I doubt this bid will hold.

Darn it! and this Pacific time zone! I missed out. Are there any more African (specifically Ethiopian) bags coming?

I was tempted to post $61, but I thought that would be cheat-y, or at least not playing nice.

That's too funny, Michele. Joyce and I were watching here the last few minutes and Joyce said, "They can go up by one dollar, ya know?!" LOL...next time.
There are many more great bags to come...I've seen them. There are about 8 more finished just waiting to be owned...beautiful creations from a wonderful heart and mind...and she's all mine. Mwah ha ha...

I found your link on ES's blog. I have been spreading the word to my Ethiopian adoption buddies. I hope you don't mind.
What a brilliant and generous project you have undertaken. I can't wait to get my bag...

Cheers,
Shauna
