From Ugly to Awesome

If you grew up anywhere near the '70's, you likely had a rec room with a nasty fuzzy rug-type picture hanging on your wall. Maybe with some deer grazing in a colourful meadow. Something classy like that.

Well, a few years ago in a nice junky thrift shop, I got new eyes for this abomination. All I had to do was to look at the border and note some absolutely gorgeous flowers in turquoise, cappucino, and off-white.

I was re-born.
As was the carpet/wall thingie.

Combined with some of that teale chenille bedspread, a few amazing buttons, and the leftovers from someone's re-upholstery efforts and you've got yourself a handy dandy messenger bag.

Oh, think of the places you'll go!

The view from the back.
And flipped inside out to show you the pockets.

This bag measures around 13" across and 12.5" down.

Please begin any bidding at a minimum of $25.00 Cdn.
This auction remains open until Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 9:30 pm cst.
Leave your comments and bids here, please.
I'll be waiting with baited breath.

I've been thrifting for fabric for a couple years ago and NO CHENILLE. How do you do it? Love the teal.

D- pain and children. I often think of what women in other parts of the world endure to bring children into the world. How they might suffer with fistulas for the remainder of their lives. Or die. No pain relief, no intervention.

happy birthday to your son, we are the fortunate ones, for sure.

Jennie, chenille has risen in price in thrift shops, but is still to be found around here. My best luck is yard sales. People who think its "just grandma's old bedspread" and sell it for a dollar. those are happy days for me!
