It's a Circus

Reduce, re-use, recycle,
re-post?!

Any frequent window shoppers will recognize this bag from last Thursday. Our highest bidder on that date has decided not to take this buttony bag; so it is up for re-sale. Unfortunately, this information came to me too late to try and redeem any of the bids prior to the highest one before 6:00 pm; so I think the simplest thing to do is start over again. Clear as cow plops?

This bag defies description. Playful, fun, and passionate.

You'll want to pull a "cheri" with these innards. (my friend obsessively turns all my bags inside out and then rants about how they are reversible. They're not meant to be reversible; but she insists on parading around town all turned inside out and proud of it....)

For the pockets, I used a crazily bright tea towel that screams: Papua New Guinea! in brazen green, and turquoise, and red. Clearly, they are not apologetic like us Canadians.
If that purple button don't say all!

I'll go $ 65.00

hey, thanks Molly's dad. An oppurtunity to clarify: I don't actually DO returns!!! I apologize to any people who bid on this bag but then got out-bid.

NO BODY WAS OUT BID ON THIS BAG YOU JUST MORE OR LESS TOLD THE HIGHEST BIDDER ON THIS ITEM SHE WAS NOT REALLY WELCOME HERE AS NO ONE ELSE WANTED TO USE THE SITE IF HER NAME APPEARED! AN AUCTION IS AN AUCTION DON'T MATTER WHO USES IT. IF SHE WANTS TO SPEND THE MONEY THEN WHAT DOES IT MATTER??? IT IS FOR CHARITY ISN'T IT???? SHE ALREADY GAVE $350.00 TO YOUR CAUSE YOU SHOULD BE GREATFUL, NOT RUDE!!!

Hi Anonymous:
While you're entitled to your opinion, at least have the courage to send Joyce a private email if you have issue with the way things are done or sign your name.

This is a charity auction for a good cause. Let's not use it as an outlet for anonymous slander.

Have a great day!

i agree with crystal.

i know joyce personally and i know exactly where her heart is. come on anonymous, she's saving starving people with her FREE labor and time, i hardly think hurting others is on her agenda.

a personal email or telephone call is what she deserves not an ANONYMOUS rant.

Well said, both Crystal and It's A Gong Show.

well i don't have a phone number or email for Joyce and it was not meant as slander but I do know the person she did this to and she too has a big heart and did not mean to offend anyone by bidding she was trying to help the cause as well. And yes it is for charity that is what she thought till she was aggresive and munopolizing the cause.

sorry mssed a few words she was TOLD she was Aggresive and Munopolizing the cause!!!!!

I am not sure what anonymous's complaint is, but I do know that I found it confusing when a certain person was bidding and then retracting their bid. Sometimes it made me not want to return to the bidding, as I wasn't sure which were actual bids and which were impulsive bids that were retracted a couple of hours later. It made it difficult to understand where your bid stood.
I did not complain to Joyce about this, but do understand why others may have.
I certainly agree with the previous posters that this is an incredible act of charity that Joyce is offering. To publicly criticize her for that is unfair and I hope will not make her feel that the effort is not worth it. I, for one, think what Joyce is doing, here, is amazing! I thank her for it, and hope she will continue knowing there is so much support behind her.
I hope 'anonymous' will retract their critisism, knowing the harm it may cause this project. I hope those of you that are posting negative remarks understand the repercussions(and can live with it) if Joyce quits because of your unkind remarks.

Dear Anonymous(in caps lock) and "Ann" aka Carlag,

It has been made abundantly clear here and in a multitude of responses to your flurry of emails to our house, that you are missing the point.

This isn't about you, and you have now made a circus of Joyce's pure intentions. You're starting to scare people.

We would now like to return to this blog's intentions...let's put our personal claims to injury aside.

Brian,

Well said.

Dear Ann

If she's (you're) looking to unload any of the bags you've (she's) bought....have your people ( and I mean that literally ) call me.

joycie my love - with fame and fortune comes freaks and weirdos. it was true of john lennon, elvis presley, even Jesus Christ, and it is true with you.

without attempting to be harsh and mean, it was becoming glaringly obvious to me that some people were using your good intentions to fulfill what they perceived as their own inadequecies. unfortunately for you, and for them, there was never any way that you could continue to nurse them for long and a weaning was inevitable.

i have no doubt in my mind that this person is hurting as their actions strongly suggest a codependancy and a one-sided intimacy, and they feel betrayed by you, regardless of the fact that you are blameless in this. hopefully a new source of obsession will open up to this person in quick order. i do feel honest compassion for this person and hope they get help.

those that know you and love you know your heart. as brian said, hopefully we can now return to the blogs regulary scheduled program and get on with saving the lives of hungry people.

I just have to laugh at the circus of comments regarding "It's a Circus". Sometimes things don't work out exactly how we want them, time to forget about it and move on...I doubt the people of Darfur could even imagine people bickering over some old material, no matter how nicely they're sewn together. I always love these flower bags Joyce. Beautiful!

I am not Carlag and meant no harm to anyone!!! This is not for personal fame or glory but do you maybe think she was doing this for the cause??? she does have children of her own and wanted to help those less fortunate than she and hers and you All spoiled that for her.It was not an OBSSESION it was of true intent just like the rest of you.

joyce said...

Tanya b- welcome to the circus, and yes, you are bang on. $70; got it. The bids go until 6 pm blogger tme.

longtime Tanya- that same irony just struck me about twenty minutes ago and I started laughing in a mildly hysterical, attempting-to-be-optimistic type of way.

Could this bag's name be any more appropriate?!

joyce said...

thank you for that, Ann. There are many ways to support causes, especially the Darfur cause. If you are able to effectively communicate with carlag, commend her for her generosity and direct her to Save Darfur canada or World Food Programme, or Oxfam. Any of which could easily be accessed through google. If the point is supporting the cause, that can be accomplished any number of ways. Your support for your friend is touching.
