I <3 You

A number of weeks ago, I came home one night to a love message spelled out in buttons on my counter. It was from my daughter Jane (who just turned thirteen on the 8th). it was so lovely and thoughtful that I took a picture of it, and then attempted to recreate it on this tablecloth turned tote bag.

It's been complete for a few weeks now, but I've not been ready to let it go.
This photo shows the bag turned inside out, so you can see how I used doilies to create additional pockets. There are actually four pockets on the inside of the tote bag.

The straps are formed from a vintage piece that I've been hoarding for quite a few years now. I like the way it picks up the colour in the trim and the buttons.

Looks kinda spring-ish, doncha think?
It is tightwad Tuesday, so who'll start us off with $15, just because we can?
I'll leave the auction open until 7:00 am, April 15, cst.

This bag is so wonderful. I don't know how you sew buttons on like that - sewing buttons drives me insane.

On another topic, I've recently finished reading the book you recommended, Tears of the Desert. Such a beautifully written story. I fell in love with the author and her family. And the horror of what followed literally had me clutching my stomach in nausea. I'm recommending it to everyone I know. It's an amazing way to raise awareness and sympathy. Which in turn, will hopefully get us closer to a resolution. Thank you for recommending this book and thank you for doing what you do. Perhaps a meal is being served to Halima's mother or little sister right now because of you.

Those buttons make me drool! It is so generous of you to give them up/share them, and in such a beautiful way.

yup, that's easy. i live 24 minutes south of Winnipeg, and even have a friend in St Vital who will operate as a depot if I feed her enough chocolate.

Either that, or $10 in the mail.
